The Kitchen Office :: A New Trend In Kitchen Design
If you are thinking about renovating your kitchen or perhaps you are in the planning stages consider a kitchen office. With the advent of computers, especially laptops and the Internet, the kitchen has grown out of its boundaries somewhat. Lifestyles of today are much different from those as little as 20 years ago. The kitchen is now a place where much more than just cooking, cleaning and eating use to happen.

Traditional kitchens and even modern kitchens usually only take into account storage, cooking and cleaning needs and perhaps a quick and easy place to eat. Counter space has always been a premium but it is usually reserved for food related tasks. Perhaps it is a good idea to look beyond these stereotypes and think about that laptop you use so often to get recipes or lookup conversions for ounces to cups on the Internet.

Anyone who owns a laptop knows its benefits. Check the weather, do some banking, watch a movie, etc, etc… So why hide it away in the den or home office or bedroom. The kitchen has become more of a epicenter in our home than ever before. We cook, eat, clean, read, and now surf the Web there. Why not have a space designed around  the computer. And, while you are at it, include in this space enough room to do a little work. Much like a small office.

A kitchen office is not going to replace a more private home office or den where serious hours of work are done even if the kids are at home. It is more of a supplemental office that allows you to get this and that done while you are in the homes central meeting place, the kitchen. Since water and computers as well as other important office type documents don’t mix well a little planning as how this space should be incorporated into your kitchen renovation it well worth it.
